II By his power of manifesting
truth
. – 1. Has abundance of material
wherewith to make a controlling manifestation.
When judgt [judgment] & reason are convinced – man
becomes essentially weak – must yield in
time – though his heart be reluctant.

2. Has power of vivifying & rousing our
intellect & consc. [conscience] to most intense exercise.
Funeral occasion – Hour of excitement –
exstacy [ecstasy] of curiosity – moments of danger &c [etc.].

3. Can bring forth such an array of of facts
coming within our own kn. [knowledge] as to over-
-whelm us with conviction. If necessary
God can work miracles to manifest truth.
Nothing bearing on t. [the] case will escape him.

4. He can illustrate truth with a splendor
& a force of wh. [which] we now form little conception.
("Lamartine". "Burke". –) Think of the power of
eloquence – and who can present truth vividly &c. [etc.] –
& compare any man's resonances with Gods [God's] ~
