2 Not only is he ready to do – but
he sets himself at work – goes
about doing – what his judgment
tells him he ought to do first.
No cavilling [caviling] – no delaying – no questioning
no hesitating – he keeps his mind at
work tho. [though] his mouth is closed
Contrives what to do – & does it.

3. Not only so – but he who is in
earnest will make sacrifices to
secure his salvation – part with
anything nec. [necessary] – give up all present
aims – & possessions – renounce all
old pursuits & associations –
Let everything go – for this he
must have at all events – nothing
shall prevent him ~
