is ever seeking how to gratify his de-
-sires & planning new dishes & drinks
& forms of pleasure –. He sighs
only for more powers & more
to gratify them. God gives
his request, but leanness comes at
last. Violent disorders & pains
ensure nausea & loathing – his
cups but madder & not soothe.
Soul has no rest within him.
Has no resources of happiness.
He is wretched – his Spirit bar-
-ren & poverty-stricken. The night
glooms gather – his day is over ~
