Epicurus first had atoms quiescent – (objec.) [objects] then

moved eternally then or not at all – – Said they had
moved in paralell [parallel] directions from eternity – but
then they never c'd [could] have come together at all – &
so he made the lines oblique ~ Thus he
strove to prop up a miserable theory
of motion as the eternal order of
things. His motion was in oblique
lines – while the modern theory
of the progress is one of all things
moving in an arch –
good & bad – sin & shame –
evil & devil – Arch Fiend & arch-
-angel – in one jumble together ~
