"And he that winneth souls is wise" ~ [centered, italicized]

Introduction. [centered, italicized]
Wisdom is one of the highest attributes of rational beings.
All true wisdom is combined with goodness.
God is truly wise. Men, in their degree, may be also wise –
Wisdom involves the adoption of the best ends – to be accomplished by the best means.
He that winneth [centered, italicized]
soul is wise – [centered, italicized]
I Because he purposes to himself the best
ends attainable. [italicized] These are – Not gratifn [gratification] of animal
Desires – nor of intellectual aspirations – pride, ambition, conquest, fame thirst of glory,
Nor attainment of worldly riches & substance; nat [nature] of kn. [knowledge] – fame – power – greatness ~
(Love of power a ruling lust in the bosoms of men of genius, capacity, thought.)
They are – one's own h. [human] good temporal & eternal – The highest hap. [happiness] of all men –
of the universe – – & The glory of God, Supreme & Eternal ~
II Because he adopts the best means to
accomplish the ends proposed. [italicized]

He attempts of these ends; Not by stimulating the animal propensities –
inducing surrender to them. Not by exciting mere intellec. [intellectual] desires – pride
thirst of power, fame, military glory – worldly grandeur —

But by – Cultivating the moral feelings – quickening t. [the] susceptibilities –
arousing the consc. [conscience] – summoning the will to proper action –
commanding it to immediate obed. [obedience] to God's law. Thus leading the soul
to C. [Christ] – redeeming it from sin – from sting of remorse – vengeance of death – & the fire of Hell!
1 Rem. [Remark] How worthy of commendation is the conduct of such! [italicized]
Fulfill mission – co-work with God – bless their race & the universe ~
2. Rem. [Remark] How base the work of those who by neglect, or otherwise –
destroy, ruin souls!! ~ [italicized]
