Universe is essentially that of such
men as Spencer, Huxley, Tyndall,
and others. There is an eternal something
in which are enwrapped the forces ne-
-cessary for the production of all the
phenomena of the universe, and that
nothing appears as a phenomenon
which was not genuinelly [genuinely] in its
source. But the phenomena of the u-
-niverse, after all, disclose so little
of their originating Power, that that Pow-
-er receives only such names as, the
Unknowable, the Ineffable, the Indeclar-
-able, and so on; and Mr Tyndall [John Tyndall], in
substance, says that he does not know
whether to call this Power, he, she, or it;
and Mr John Fisk says that he does
