short visit – It had been thirty six years since I
had seen him – Neither recognized the other, both
were so changed This season, in June, Gulian
came on an excursion, he too made but a brief
stay as he had to be back on time – or pay extra –
He said he would known my eyes, but I would
not known him – He is a steady, fine man, a
church member – uses no liquor or tobacco.
Has only one Son & daughter left – I think if he
can sell to suit him, that he will come to this
State to live. He does not like the long severe
cold winters, and thunder and wind-storms
they have there – Had one of his best cows killed
by lightning this summer – Sis. Alphonsine
family are grown and all of age – Are fine very
interesting young people – Her husband is building
them a new home this summer and Mr. Crawford
is there at work on it – They live about thirty-two
miles south of us, at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mts.
