Very dear Aunt Calista.

Your excellent
and most interesting letter came in due time
but found me very sick with inflamation [inflammation]
of my lungs – Tis going on five weeks since
I took down, am now able to sit up part
of the day and am gaining but am still
quite weak – Think I will recover if I get no
cold – I came near going to my other home.

Mr. Crawford was elected delegate to the
Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows that convened
in San Francisco and I, to the State
Convention of Rebekahs that met there at
the same time, we went and spent a week
attending the greater part of it at the sessions
which were very interesting and enjoyable
After the close of that business we went to
