day. Lumber is very dear and
carpenters get from 12 to fifteen
dollars per day. labouring [laboring] men
get from 8 to 10 dollars per day
or one dollar per hour. We
remained here 2 days and put
our baggage on board of a small
Schooner (Atriveclece) bound for
Sacramento City 190 miles from
San Francisco, we paid 16 dollars
each having 46 passengers in alll
allowing each 200 lbs. and to pay
2 1/2 dollars per cut wt. for provision
as cargo, we had to find our own
provision for the Journey which
