Carleston S. C.

March 3, 1849 --

" Wait on board of the Brig
" Henrico the wind being
" a head we lay in the harbour [harbor]
" until the Eving [Evening] of Wedn. [Wednesday]
" the 7th Inst. at or about 3 OClock [O'Clock]
" We Sailed for Chagress [Charges] --
" which port we made on
" the Evening of the 21 Inst.
We had an Escellant [excellent]
passage all the way the
wind Blowing Steady after
us, with the Eseception [exception] of
the 14 of March, which day
happened to be a dead
Calm all most [almost] for the 24
hours, during this calm
