Marysville April 20 1853

My Dear Sister

Your sometime expected
letter came duly to hand by the
Last mail. I am glad to see that you
have so soon got through with your
troubles. It seems that the name of
McIlvaine is not Likely soon to die out whatever
may be said for that of Olden.
By the way I see by the paper that
our venerable relative the Duke of
Oldenburgh has recently deceased
& what is very remis [remiss] in his past has
not mentioned me is his will,
well I shall not put on mourning
for him anyhow.

You were smart enough to direct
my letters to Marysville & I got yours
yesterday. Sara's was directed to SanFr San Francisco
& I got it by express to day [today] dont [don't] say
any thing to her about it as I have said
enough in some of my previous letters.
I am happy to say that all your fears
on my behalf were unfounded. I have
retained my Situation and am by
far the most popular agent here.
I am vain enough to think that much
