with delight when Saras [Sara's] arrived. The greatest
pleasure I have is to Sit & gaze at their faces.
I almost imagine myself among them their eyes
Seem to look into mine with the Same
loving look as of old. When I once get
them out t here I shall be perfectly happy
and contented. I done made such arrangements
that I think that I shall be able
to Send – for them in about six weeks.
My Steamboat Agency produces me $250⁰⁰
per month. That is Sure or at least depends
only upon the Boat as long as She remains
in the hands of her present owners. I
& I have just concluded a partnership
with a Dr. [Doctor] Bucknell who has the agency
for Selling the produce for several of the
largest Ranches on the Bay one of them
has fifteen hundred acres of potatoes
alone and other things in proportion. Three
& four hundred bushells [bushels] per acre is a common
crop. Wheat has been raised this year.
