27 ironed in the morning Hetty came over in
the afternoon kissed welly [Welly] went to bed. 28 washed
hard all day done some sewing went over to see
Cordelias [Cordelia's] second Noah which is a very fine boy.
kissed our son went to bed. 29 went down to
Mothers [Mother's] to stay all day felt very gloomy all day
Mely come home to stay all night kissed the boy
went to bed and dreamed that you were not
coming but this morning how did my heart
leap for you when the letters come for I thought
my dream was going contrary but as you have
not recieved [received] our letters. I still have hope of recieving [receiving]
good news or something better yourself. Dearest
my constant prayer is that your life may be
spared and that you may be with us soon and
if it is not the will of our wise Creator for you to come it will
be for the best although it seems very hard. Oh
that I was onley [only] with you. Dear if you do not
come home from St Joe [St. Joseph] but go on to California
I want you to pick up what you want and
hurry home. Welly sends pa many kisses
and say pa come back. I must bid you Farewell
now for Welly wants 'Emily' to play withe [with]
Welly and learn him his b I & how I do wish
we had went with you but it is to [too] late to
wish now good by [goodbye] Dearest husband Welly
is crying to go home every place he is he cries to go
home for he feels
like me that he has no home.
