Mr. Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] has not yet returned from
Oregon, but I expect him in a week
from the present time when I hope
he will return in good health and
spirits and be ready to take hold
and assist me about the business
the same as he used to do.

We have now been partners together
ten months, and so far, have never
had any misunderstanding whatever,
but on the contrary have always got
along first rate. My doings have seemed
to suit him, and his doings have suited
me so we have neither of us had
any occasion to find fault with each
other. I wrote you in my last letter
that I did not know but he would
go home in the course of a few months
but I hope he will decide on stopping
for I do not think I could find
another such a partner in California
