the Sabbath, advertise that they shall close
their several places, every sunday [Sunday] after
the 4th of July next, so it appears that we are
not the only ones, who choose to make the 7th
day of each and every week a day of rest --

My health continues good, although
I was rather unwell day before yesterday during
the forenoon, but am now as well as usual
again, and hope to remain so --

Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] is well also, and attends to
business, closely and steadily for which he
is remarkable. He would like to be at
home with his wife and children, as he has
never been away from them so long before, as
he has now since he started the last time to
come to California, but he will now prob-
ably remain here until next April when
I think he will leave for home at any
rate, although he appears now to be very well contented.

Our business during the last month has paid
us first rate. The thirteenth month of our co-
partnership has just closed, and from the
19th of May until the 19th of June, our Sales
amounted to $1160.22. and the profits arising
from that, amounted to $628.84 which left us
after deducting what we paid out for Rent,
Board, & Clothes, $517.11 or $258.55 apiece,
which we consider to be very good pay for
29 days work. It was the best month we ever had.

29th Mr Noyes [Ephraim Noyes] is as well as usual today -- so is Mr Millet the
man I sold our cigar stand to. He rooms with us and does
our cooking. We still "ranch" and live first rate

I think I shall evictise [write] a few lines to Miss
Lewis
which you will please hand her
