3. It is used also to designate that
class of effects – that state of mind –
produced in us by the interposition of
God & C. [Christ] in our behalf. Grace in this
sense becomes equivalent to religion, wh. [which]
is the result of divine grace.

This last is that of the text. The grace
wh. [which] is to grow is that condition of mind
& heart wh. [which] has come to exist thus, the
influence of God energizing with the
free action of the human Spirit.
