II What is it to grow in grace?

1 Not simply in us mortals holy ex-
-pansion – the growth of faculties ~

2 Involves increase in & kn. [knowledge] of C. [Christ] –
especially in those respects in wh. [which] he
sustains peculiar relations to his people.
Something more than speculation – &
mere intellectual exercises ~

3. To have clearer views of God &
duty – the natures of holiness & sin –
to be in a state where – like opposite mirrors –
the judgment & the consc. [conscience] – the intellect and
the feelings brighten & purify each other.
