Mr. Editor I want to say a few words to the
readers of your paper --- (and I suppose that in
cludes [includes] nearly all the colored people of San -
Francisco -- certainly all that who are interest-
ed in the our Public School whether they are Sp
peal men & women or not) suggested by a few senten-
ces that I read to night only occur in a an Edito
rial of
the Elevator, under the caption of an article headed
headed "Education of Col-
ored children" -- Doubtless there many parents
and guardians of children, have read the article in
question
refered [referred] to: they have made their infer
ences --- Many Efforts have been made in time past to un-
derrate the only Public School we have in our city.
and its teacher, by persons that who have not visited &
will not visit the school. No matter who is
the teacher of the Public School. The parents and
guardians of his scholars ought to pay it frequent
visits. The teacher, while in the discharge of his du-
ty should have the cooperation of the people whose
children are with him. This is your school.
The teacher is in fact your servant
These are your children --- Take nothing that re-
lates to the school, its government the children or teacher upon
hearsay -- See inquire examine and decide for yourselves
while he's subject to "The Board." of Education

The Article in the Elevator says "We have a
school here (San Francisco) a very good one for
the grade, but it is only a primary school.
