My dear old Sned:

You can imagine how delighted we were
yesterday to get your cable. I have not seen it
yet, because it was telephoned to Mother, and then
is just in the mail. I suppose it arrived at the
house today. The telegraph man said it was
from France, so I suppose you stopped off in
England for a week. It was very thoughtful and
good of you to send it. We have not heard from
Lesley for 10 days. I dont suppose he would have
left March Field without letting us know, but the
last letter said he was superintending the building
of an airdrome. I sent him $20.00 nine days ago
which he had asked the loan of, and I have not
heard whether he received it. Jos sent us a
fine box of figs yesterday. Martha & Mr Linderman
are going up there tomorrow, and of course will
see him. The Kink has gotten out of the basement
twice this week in the night, and gone over to the
OKells and scared their servants. I think he
turns the door nob himself, so have put a hook on
the outside of the basement door. We are expecting
to concrete the basement floor if we can get any
one to do it, but labor is scarce and the cement
contractors very busy. We are also going to put
down linoleum in the kitchen and back hall, and
hope to paint the kitchen walls & ceiling.

My sister Gerty lives in London. Her address
is 162 Finborough Road, West Brompton. If you
get a chance, I wish you would see her and tell
