ful cafeteria there. We walked a mile
to eat there. But now we must sneak
off to Hempstead or New York. I like
Hempstead for its quaintness and cheapness. New
York is full of gold-diggers. Went to see
the Guthrie's. Saw Lee Robinson in the Astor
and Shorty Williams, formerly M.C.
Glee Club.

I've been here three weeks now doing
nothing. No drill, no duties. -- just wait.
Would you believe we were supplied with
tin helmets? -- we are. I think it's a
mistake but I'm happly to put myself
