plane swooped down around
the burning baloon [balloon] just like
a hock [hawk]. The Germans opened
fire on the two observers in
the parashutes [parachutes]. I don't think
that he got them. The flaming
baloon [balloon] and parashutes [parachutes] landed
right near us. It was worth
coming over here just to see
this one sight. It was wonderful.

Mickie and I worked all
day cleaning the car. Some
job scrapping [scraping] the mud off.
We are to have three days
to get our cars ready for
inspection for our new
captain Erhard. Saw
a fine aeroplane scrap.
Two machines were brought
down, but wasn't close
