then invited me to a
dance in San Diego. She
said it would be a very
select affair. I did not
go though as I was
financially embarassed.
She was a very young
looking woman and
when she told me her
husband was in France
I thought he was a
2nd lieut. You should
have seen me catch
my breath when she
said he was a colonel.
If she hadn't have been
married I probably could
have made a date for
some future time --- namely
after pay day.

I ran on to a girl
