Dear Bro:

Received you letter today and
I sure was glad to get it. I also
received a big box of candy from Rose.
I am going after it like I never
tasted candy in my life before.
I am eating only soft pieces to-day
because the dentist put a filling in
one of my teeth to-day and I have
to go easy on it. I broke it on a
piece of hard tack when we were
traveling on the train. We didn’t
get any bread when we were travel-
ing we got what the English call
schrapnel, and they sure named
it right. They get it when they get
up in the front but they soak it
in water and cook it with some
kind of jam and make pudding
out of it. We hear some great stories
from the men from the front.
