Dear Ma:

I have delayed writing
for about a week but I have
all morning to write so I
will drop a line to everybody.
I received letter a week ago written
Oct 25th and last night I re-
ceived one you wrote on the
16th of Oct. I guess some of the
mail comes over on a slow
freight and takes twice as long.

No I didn’t learn to smoke yet
and I don’t think I ever will.
I didn’t get the fruit cake that
Allie sent yet but I expect it
most any day. It will sure
go fine my mouth has sure been
watering for a good piece of
fruit cake. I hope it gets here
before Thanksgiving so that
I can eat some with my
