This remarquable genus is essentialy charactreized by
its sep. & pet. being combined into a long tube
its dorsal fornicate lip, its long narrow spreading
petals & its long column which follows the curve
of the lip that presses on it in consequence of
which the anther is forced into the front of the column.
Its long narrow flexuose petals & the adhesion of
the parts of the flower into a neck, divide it from
Gomphichis. Lindl. gen & sp. 447.
