A. S. Claiborne letter

Clinton is an old townin Mississippi, not far from Jack son.

One of the parties mentioned in the bill of sale, and I think his name is Claiborn, was quite a promineent man in Mississ ippi before the war, and was I think either a particular friend of Davis or Foote, who was a candidate against Davis for Governor of Mississippi, and was a distinguished man in Ante-Bellum days.
