1843 March 15. Received of Mr. Hopkins
Nowlin the sum of Two hundred and Eighty
Dollars which is in full for the purchase
of a Negro Girl Named Ellen who is about
16 or 17 years old. I do hereby warrant a good
and lawful Title to the said Girl Ellen unto
the said Nowlin his h[ ] &c forever. I also
warrant said Girl sound both in body and
mind Given under my hand and
seal this the day and date above written
