SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 1865.
I arose early this morning got breakfast over and was seting around it soon comenct raining but soon quit and the sun shown out bright and warm there was a shower in the evning the camp was lively and cheerfuly untill the mesenger brought the dis patch that the president and seward was both assasinated then the boys officers and all over sad. if there is any such a place as hell those asasinators will surely reach that spot
the damnable reches of humanity

Wow! This is an entry from the day of Abraham Lincoln's assassination.

@amatejka I believe there is another entry that mentions the presidents death much later in the diary, I think in reference to someone going to military jail for a year.
