family have had very bad colds. Some of our neighbors are afflicted in the same way. Mrs. Tillinghast & Mrs. [Morning Owery?] & called yesterday. They both spoke of you & joined in the woeful lamentation, "he is without a wife." I think Mrs. Tillinghast is a charming woman. Their oldest daughters are both teachers. Sara Ann has a school in VA & Robin [?] has one at home. Nanny [?] & Eliza [?] expect to leave next week. I have seen but little of them. I went over one evening to see them, but they were not at home. I carried sister over to Dr. [?] ____'s Thursday evening. She seemed disposed to enjoy her visit - & yet - the fear of having done wrong to go, troubled her all the time she was there & hastened her home. The last thing she does is always wrong with her.
