Mr. A. Hyman moved an amendment to reelect Mr. Silberstein
as Shochet, Chazzan and teacher but dispense
with his services as collector of the
Congregation, but on motion of Mr. S.J.
Nathan, this amendment was indefinitely
postponed, and the original motion
of Mr. Franklin was carried and
Mr. Silberstein declared reelected for
6 months.

A motion of Mr. S.J. Nathan to permit
ladies and gentlemen to sit together
at the synagogue was on motion
of Mr. Harris indefinitely postponed.

No futher business appearing the
meeting adjourned.

Sacramento, September 18, 1864

A special meeting of the congregation
was held. The President, Mr. Elkus in the
chair. The president stated the object of this
meeting to be to decide in what manner and at
what rate the seats of the synagogue should be
sold for the ensuing holidays. Mr. Davis
moved to charge members 5 dollars for each seat
and non-members 10 dollars.

Mr. Kozminski moved an amendment to charge
members 2.50, sell choice seats at auction and
charge non-members 10 dollars, but leave it
discretionary with the president to accept a
lower price from non-members. Mr. Davis
accepted the amendment and the orginal
motion as amended was carried.
