Sacramento, June 18th, 1865
The annual meeting of the Congregation
was held, the President in the chair.
On roll call 34 members answered
to their names. Minutes of meetings
of January 29, February 20, March 20 and 26,
and June 4th were read and
approved. The annual report of the
Secretary and Treasurer were received
and on motion of B. Kosminski
referred to Board of Officers. Report of
committee on collections was on motion of
B. Kosminski laid on the table.
Resignation of A. Dennery was read,
and on motion of P. Franklin the same
as well as the account against A.
Dennery and the other delinquents referred
to new Board of Officers with power
to act. A communcation of Dr. H.
Henry acknowledging receipt of
testimonial presented to him by Congregation
was read and placed on file.
The meeting now proceeded to the
election of officers. The first election
in order being that of President, Mr.
Zekind nominated I. Davis and Mr.
A. Hyman nominated Mr. L. Elkus.
On motion of Mr. Franklin, the
nominations were closed. The President
appointed N.M. Jacobs and C. Lehman
as tellers. A ballot beng taken,
Mr. Elkus received 28 and Mr. Davis 4
votes. Mr. Elkus having received
a majority of votes was declared
duly elected and on motion of Mr.
Franklin his election was made unanimous.
