Synagogue, May 28th, 1871
Special meeting called.
President Elkus presiding.
The president stated the object of the
meeting to be to receive the report of
committee appointed at the last
regular meeting for the purpose of
either negotiating with the Hebrew
Benovelent Society of this City or select a
burial ground for this congregation.
At roll call the following named
gentleman were noted absent.
A. Dennery, N.M. Jacobs, P. Franklin
M. Hyman, G. Haines, A. Hamburger,
L. Levy, B. Lasky, M, Lobenstein,
E. Lesser, S. Moose, S. Nathan,
J. Peck, J, Rothfield, & M. Steinfels.
The committee reported the following
preamble and resolution and
moved their adoption which motion
prevailed.
A motion was made and carried
that a committee of three be appointed
to lay the whole subject matter before
the Hebrew Benevolent Society of
this city. Messrs. S. Schreiber,
J. Levison & B. Kozminsky were
appointed said committee.
Upon the adoption of the report
of the committee, the yes & noes
were called for. All members
present voted yes except Messrs.
B. Dennery & Phillip Meyer
who voted no.
