A trustee meeting was held November 14th, 1860 The president in the chair. Mr C. Lehman was present to ascertain from him what days he would require the service of the Rev. M.R. Cohen. Mr. Lehman stated that this time of the year he would wish to kill Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The was granted to Mr. Lehman. It also was arranged between the Rev. M.R. Cohen, trustees, and the school commissioners that the Hebrew children shall attend the public school every Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 o'clock till 5 o'clock P.M. It was also ordered that ths school commissioners should notify all our members who have children to send to school that the school will commence Monday 19 November and that each child must have a permit from the commissioners. A claim of Dr. Gellman and also from S.H. Henry for printing and advertisements for presented and ordered to be paid. No further business, the Board adjourned.

A communcation was received by the trustees from teh Rev. M.R. Cohen stating that 2 days in the week for teaching the children is not sufficient -- he offered to teach on Sundays from 2 o'clock till 4 o'clock P.M.

A trustee meeting was held November 13, 1860 for the purpose of electing the following applicants as members of our congregation. Bernard Dennery, Alphonse Dennery, M. Harris, H. Harris, H. Lewis, M. Newman, L. Newman, H. Goldberg, G. Bernstein, M. Wilson, the same were elected. A motion was made and seconded that the congregation shall allow the Rev. M.R. Cohen fifty dollars

towards his expenses of coming up to this city to fill the office of our minister. This was unanimously ordered. No further business on hand the meeting adjourned.

Sacramento January 13, 1861 A regular meeting was held in the synagogue, M. Marks president in the chair.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The next in order was the balance sheet of the secretary which showed a balance in treasurer's hand of $304.32 and debts outstanding for offerings, etc. $182.50. It was moved and seconded that the same be received and placed on file, which was carried. The following gentlemen sent in their applications to become members of the congregation Benai Israel. B. Dennery, A. Dennery, and M. Wilson. They were duly elected. Wm. Harris sent in his resignation as a trustee, which was received and accepted. D. Kohn, Esq. was nominated to fill the unexpired term as trustee. The rules were suspended and he was unanimously elected. G. Aronson sent in his resignation as secretary, the same was received and accepted. The congregation wished G. Aronson to keep the office until the trustees appoint a secretary. He complied with their wish. Mr. Marks sent in his resignation as president, the same was received and ordered to lay over till the next general meeting. It was moved and seconded and unanimously carried that we elect the Rev. M.R. Cohen for fifteen months from the first of February at a salary of one hundred and twenty five dollars a month. No further business on hand, the meeting adjourned.

Sacramento, February 17th, 1861
A special meeting was held at the Synagogue, Mr. Marks presiding.
The President stated, the object of this meeting to take in consideration the propriety of engaging a suitable person to bake matzah for the members of this congregation.
Rev. Mr. Cohen addressed the meeting urging the necessity of taking some steps towards procuring matzah.
Communications of Joseph Moss and Co. making preparations to bake matzah for one cent less than market price was read and on motion laid on the table.
On motion of Mr. Aronson the Secretary was instructed to advertise in the evening Bee that applications for baking matzah will be received by the President for one week. No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned.

Sacramento, February 20th, 1861
A special meeting of the Board of Officers was held, President M. Marks in the chair.
Communication of Mr. Lewis Levy was read and on motion was accepted and laid on the table.
Communications of Mr. M. Goldman was on motion, read and placed on file.
On motion of Mr. D. Kohen the proposition of Mr. Lewis Levy was accepted and the contract for baking and furnishing matzah awarded to him providing he will permit Rev. Mr. Cohen the superintendency of the baking of the same.
Meeting adjourned.
