The contract -- between the congr. & Mr. Goldsticker for killing Kosher cattle, as submitted by the committee, was on motion taken from the table and the contract -- adopted to take effect -- for three months from date. On motion the meeting adjourned agreeable to a call of the President.

Sacramento, November 27th, 1857

A meeting of the Board of officers of the Congr. was held at the synagogue pursuant to a call of the President. A. Hamburger, who was presiding.

The President stated, that the object of the meeting was to hear & respond from the the Board of trustees, regarding the instructions which they had received at the last meeting of the Congregation.

The trustees stated that had not as yet had time to attend to their duties & asked for one weeks further time, which was on motion granted to them.

The Board decided on a motion that the new treasurer's bond shall be fixed at ($1000.00) one thousand dollars.

The Board of trustees were authorized to have 200 copies of the Constitution & bylaws, & 1000 notices printed at as a low price as possible.

The trustees were instructed to call on all the Jewish families in this city & collect from them their patronage for Mr. Goldsticker the butcher, as it was stated in complaint before the board that unless he, Mr. Goldsticker, is more patronized by the Jewish families, he then would not be able to comply with & pay the amount agreed upon in the contract between him & the Congr.

On motion the meeting adjourned agreeable to a call of the President.

Sacramento, January 17th, 1857

A regular meeting of the congregation was held at the Synagogue. And in absence of the President & Vice President , Mr G. Davis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees was called to the chair.

The minutes of the last regular meeting held November 22d & of a special meeting held November 29th, were read & approved.

The secretary & treasurer presented their quarterly reports, which were read, and on motion they were adopted & ordered to be placed on file.

The chairman of the Board of trustees stated, that said Board had at various times visited the Hebrew school, & were pleased to see the pupils, who are at present twenty-nine in number, progressing in their various lessons and that Mr. Neustadt as teacher of said school as an officer of this Congregation is performing his various duties with fidelity & in a gentleman like manner.

On motion the Board of Trustees were authorized to reengage Mr. Z. Neustadt from the expiraion of his pesent term viz. from February the 22d, for three (3) months at eighty-five dollars ($85.00) per month.

Messrs. G. Aronson & Louis Schawl were appointed a commitee to endeavor to solicit from the Hebrew families in this City -- as much patronage as possible for the butcher who kills Kosher meat, & pays weekly into the funds of this Congregation

the sum of $7.50 for said privilege.

The Secretary tenders his resignation, which was on motion accepted, and was subsequently appointed to officiate as Secretary Pro Temp until such time as may be convenient to him.

Mr. L. Lehman gave notice of an amendment to Sec. 2d of Art. 1th of the Bylaws to read as follows:

Members sending children to the Jewish Congregational School shall pay one Dollar monthly for each & every child.

On motion the meeting adjourned, agreeable to a call of the President.
