Thurs May 2. Drizzled some of the time this forenoon but didnt rain enough to do any good and cool this afternoon. The fruit trees are just in bloom. Some of the pears are beginning to drop the bloom. Lew and Will worked at the wood pile this forenoon. I sat by the store in the forenoon and in the afternoo [afternoon] Lew and I hauled a couple of loads of hay and let Mr Bair have 50 lbs of fish and hauld [hauled] a couple of loads of rubbish for wood and Will plowed.

May 3. Fri Cloudy in the morning but Cleared off and got nice and quite warm towards night. Will plowed all day. Lew harrowed the piece in the NW Corner of the place and laid it off one way. I irrigated the piece towards the larn [barn ?] planted some pop corn shelled some seed corn and spaded up some ground for Meda to plant flowers on.

Sat MAY 4. Mostly cear and quite warm. Lew and I went to town in the forenoon I to see after some business and get me a pair of shoes. He to attend to the marketing. Will laid off some on the NW corner piece harrowed the NE corner piece and commenced laying it off after we got home. I began to plant a little.

MAY 5. Sun Very nice and warm. Lew staid [stayed] at home like a man and kept back. Mother and I went to Mr Hoags but Mr Hoags folks were gone and Mr Breninger entertained us first rate with their specimens and his musium [museum]. Then we went to C V Howards and had a right good visit.

Mon MAY 6. Warm hot cloudy cool windy Windy Windy and rained in some places in sight. We worked at corn ground and planting corn got the piece in the NW Corner planted to yellow corn and a good start at the other piece with white corn and plowed and harrowed between the trees in the lower orchard. Lew brought Marnies old Jess and we are going to put her in pasture.

MAY 7. Tues Another cool windy day. We all finished planting the field corn got the white corn piece finished then the boys got ready and started right after dinner for the hills to put in the corn there. Took Mrs Bartlett Jess and Max and four to work. I planted the pop corn that Ed Wyley folks sent us and some beans and looked around to see if I need to irrigate soon.

Wed MAY 8. Pretty fair day. Lew and Will up in the hills. I planted sweet corn and beans and Quaker pie punkins [pumpkins] and Ice Cream Watermelons and B muskmelons etc in the forenoon and in the afternoon fixed the ditch over across the place by the willow tree.

MAY 9 Thurs It fussed like it wanted to rain all day and did just enough here to make it a little muddy but not enough to do much good but seemed to be raining around us most of the time. It is sprinkling here a little to night. The boys still up in the hills. I went up to Mr Beaches to arrange to meet them so as to perfect our business and this afternoon didnt do much.
