SEPTEMBER 1. Sun Threatened rain pretty strong and sprinkled a bit about noon and Lill says there was quite a shower at the hill ranch. We had lots of company to day Walter Hawley and family C A Black and family R C Dotts and family Mr Coy and Mrs Coy Annie and the two little boys and we put in quite a busy day visiting.

SEPTEMBER 2. Mon About cool enough for frost this morning and some cooler all day than common. Lew and Will hauled seed alfalfa until they got 7 loads. Then Lew went to town to get some boxes and got sade shod has not got back yet. I irrigated most of the time to day over on the Howard place the rest of the time I was doing sundry chores.

SEPTEMBER 3. Tues Well about like what we have had lately. Lew got ready and started for Cheyenne with a load of fruit. Mr Dixon and Will hauled 8 loads of alfalfa seed hay and helped Lew a while at noon. I picked plums some and irrigated quite a good part of the day and made a churn dasher and pig trough in the bargain or in the shop anyhow.

SEPTEMBER 4. Wed Wind blew a blue streak a good part of the night and blowed the alfalfa all around and blowed of [off] lots of fruit and blowed the tent over. Mr Dixon Mr Mattis and Will and I worked at the seed alfalfa cutting it and putting it back. It is awful heavy where we cut but we will get through in two or three hours tomorrow.

SEPTEMBER 5. Thurs Cold in the morning in fact we had some frost but it got quite comfortable. We finished cutting the seed alfalfa found lots of bumble bees nests. Then Mr Dixon and Will and Mr Mattis hauled in the afternoon and fixed up some of the stacks that the wind had blown down. I cut a little Jappaneese [Japanese] buckwheat and irrigated some and picked some sweet corn for seed and we had lots of company.

SEPTEMBER 6. Fri Pretty cold in the morning pretty hot at noon pretty windy most all of the afternoon. Mr Dixon and Will stacked seed alfalfa fixed up the stacks some of them that the wind frolicked with. Lew has not got home yet. I finished cutting the buckwheat and made it into indian babies. Spent some time irrigating over in Johns field helped a while up at Windy hill and run around loose a good deal.

SEPTEMBER 7. Sat Very good day. Mr Dixon and Will finished the stack that they were working at yesterday then put some hay up in the barn loft and went home at noon. I cut Buckwheat in the forenoon and in the afternoon chased around at one thing and another. Lew got home about 4 O clock reports that he can sell fruit there but will have to sell it pretty low.

SEPTEMBER 8. Sun Pretty nice day. Had considerable company to day. We picked some fruit to take over to some people about town who had ordered it and allso [also] some to take to Cheyenne and I went ahead with the irrigating and started a little to running onto our place and I cut a little buckwheat in the morning.
