Fri Sept 1st Clear and pretty and a real nice day but the hay did not seem to dry very fast. Frank and Kib fixed the fence down at the lower end of the place where the pond had washed it away and some other little chores and this afternoon Kib raked hay over at Mr Howards and Frank went hunting with Elmer got two rabbits and a lot of little mud birds. I mowed all day and got over a good lot of ground.

Sat Sept 2 Clear and nice. Frank and Kib hauled this forenoon. I mowed and this afternoon Frank and I hauled and Kib raked. We put 3 loads into the stack and left 1 on the wagon.

Sun Sept 3 Clear and hot. Kib went to Livermore with his brother Will. Lew and Elmer and I went up to the Spring Canion [Canyon] ranch found the pasture awful short and dry but the critters looks full better than could be expected on such short feed. Frank staid [stayed] at home with the with the women folks.

Mon Sept 4 Clear and very warm. Frank went up to Will Walls and got some colts for Dr Miller and took them to Turner Seamans. Lew worked with the bees and got quite a bit of honey and to night we tried the sulphur cure and we can tell in the morning how it has worked with them. Kib irrigated and raked. I mowed all day and have got the first field most done.

Tues Sept 5 Hot as ever with quite a lot of wind through the middle of the day. I mowed a little in the morning and then helped to haul until afternoon then come home and ground a sickle and done sundry jobs to piece out the day. Kib raked and helped haul. Frank worked at hauling. Lew followed the bee business until sometime afternoon then come out and helped haul until most night. Then broke the coupling pole and came home. [in the left margin bottom to top:] 4 loads today

Wed Sept 6 It threatened some. Sprinkled a little. Lew Frank and Kib hauled 6 loads of hay to day and stacked it at [Mr Henrect?]. I mowed all day and got that piece next 6 to Mr Hoags most cut.

Thurs Sept [2?] 7 Clear and Hot and lots of wind. Lew went to town this forenoon and stacked hay this afternoon. Frank cut up corn 3 this forenoon and hauled hay this afternoon. They put up 3 loads. Kib raked and helped haul. I finished cutting over at Mr Howards and then I tinkered some at the machine and finished the day at cutting on the 10 acre piece.

Fri Sept 8 Hot as ever but not windy. The three boys finished the haying over at C V Howards. Hauled it at 3 loads 3 and this afternoon the boys hauled two loads from the 10 acre piece and Kib raked on the 10 acre piece. I made a coupling pole for the new wagon this afternoon and dug some potatoes etc.

Sat Sept 9 Clear and warm and nice. The boys finished the 10 acre piece. Got in 4 loads to day then they hauled the corn from the piece north of the barn and to night Frank and Mary and Archie have gone up to Charleys. I hoed in the strawberry patch but dont feel very good to night.

Sun Sept 10 Cear and warm. Lew and Elmer went up to Charlies and to Charley Pennocks. They got home a little before sundown. The rest of us staid [stayed] at home and kept Sunday.

Mon Sept 11 Hot and clear and sunshiny. Lew Mary and Aggie and I suppose Eva Cushion and Elmer started for the hills this morning via Black Mountain. They expect to be gone about a week. Frank Kib and I repaired the fence across the ditch a couple of places this forenoon and this afternoon Frank took the cream over and done some other errands. Kib and I fixed the fence to keep the critters from going over on to Mr Terrys place.

Tues Sept 12 Cliar [Clear] hot and dry. Frank helped Mary wash in the forenoon and in the afternoon cleaned up the guns and prepared for Indians or game. Kib and I fixed a little more fence on the Windy hill place and then finished cleaning out the strawberry patch and got it pretty well irrigated but I think I will let it run for a day or two longer.

Wed Sept 13 Clear and pretty hot in the middle of the day. Frank and Kib went in quest of rabbits and got a couple for dinner. This afternoon we done sundry chores and the boys cut up some corn too. I tinkered at the machine some and looked after the water some. Meda went over to town so as to take the train for Boulder in the morning to resume her duties in the school room.

Thurs Sept 14 Clear and a little cooler to day. Frank and Kib hauled manure all day. I helped this forenoon. We got out 13 loads. I worked at other things this afternoon.

Fri Sept 15 Clear but quite comfortable. Frank and Kib hauled manure after Frank got back from taking the cream over to town. They got out 6 loads. I fixed the scraper so that I guess that it will go awhile.

Sat Sept 16 Clear and warm but some cooler than it was a week or two ago. Frank Kib and I all worked at the Dyke at the lake. The boys plowed and scraped at the East end and I dug for muskrats holes along in the middle. The others have not got home yet.

Sun Sept 17 Mostly clear and pretty windy about all day. Lew and party got home from the hills to day. They report a glorious time. They visited the professors folks and were treated with great kindness by them. Franks folks went to Reases to day but Frank himself came back with Dom and the buggy. I hustled for water to fill the lake to day with pretty good success so that there is now a good head running into the lake.
