Fri July 1st Pretty warm and looked
very much like rain and did rain a
little about 2 O clock. Lew cultivated
out the corn and potatoes. Kib went to
town and done various odd jobs the
rest of the day. Jake and I finished
mowing the orchard and spread it.
Then we cut the grass in the
plum patch by the granery and spread
the hay. Then we chored a while.
Then I put London purple on
the potatoes. Then we shocked the
hay on the lawns and turned it
over in part of the orchard and
tonight we had 3 men and a boy
to supper and expect then [them] here for
breakfast. They have a drove of
cattle bought near Trinidad and
are taking them to North Park.
