Thurs Nov first Variable that means a squall of wind about once in half an hour and rather cold besides. We started to thresh alfalfa seed but only run an hour or so and had to quit on account of the wind and Mr Kelm fired up once or twice during the day but it would come on a wind spasm and that knocked us out. Mr Marsh helped a little while this morning. John got home and helped a little.

Fri Nov 2 Just as nice as you could wish. We kept threshing away but was stopped several times by belts and one thing and another so we didnt get done at our job quite and the seed didnt turn out so well Either. John helped all day. 1

Sat Nov 3 A pretty nice day not much wind and no storm. We finished our alfalfa and allso [also] Will Dixons and we have got ours put away in the granery [granary] to keep for better prices. They seem to be paying only 5½ cts [cents] a pound for it now. John helped. 2

Sun Nov 4 Nice and clear. Sunshiny and Still but quite cool. We kept Sunday tolerable well. Frank came over and brought their chickens and calf and one of Lews calves and we will tend to them for a few days until they can get to move.

Mon Nov 5 Oh how nice only a little cold in the morning. John and I hauled and buried the large potatoes all but two sacks that we put in the cellar had about 20 bushels of them. We brought the small ones up but want to wash them before we bury them. Then we husked corn for a little while.

Tues Nov 6 Very nice all day. We went over to town to vote and did our duty by voting a clean ticket both Mother and me. Johny went along but Agnes McBride died this morning so Johny went to tell John dragers [Dragers] folks and Charleys of it and Mother and I went over to Lews and staid [stayed] until most night and had a tim [time] getting home.

Wed Nov 7 Pretty fair day but not alltogether [altogether] clear. Frank and Johny and I went to Aggies funeral and did not do much of anything else. She was buried in the Laporte Cemetry [Cemetery] and it made us rather late getting home and when we got home we found that Mr John Helm was going to be here to thresh out the grain tomorrow. The news from the elections claims Evrything [Everything] republican.

Thurs Nov 8 Fine very. Mr Helm came with his outfit and threshed out our grain. We had 104½ bush [bushels] barley 110 of wheat and 21 bush [bushels] of oats on our own place and 136 bushels of oats on the windy hill place. I suppose the bill will be about 17 [$17.00]. We got the grain in the grainey [granary] and evrything [everything] pretty well fixed up too. 4

Mon Nov 12 A terrible windy day and just near night it got to be pretty cold. Frank and I worked at the road over on the west side of the place. We got the bridge in all right [alright] and got a lot of the turnpiking done so I think we will finish it tomorrow. John started to school to day [today]. He thinks he will like the school but he didnt say whether he should like the schoolmam [school-marm] or not.

Tues Nov 13 Clear still and warm. Frank finished the turnpiking at noon and this afternoon went over to the Curtis place to bring back a load of their goods. Johny went to school and has gone now to the curtis place and will fetch back another load of household goods. I finished covering the raspberry briars and then got the water running on to the whheat [weat] stubble piece and got things fixed for filling the cistern.

Wed Nov 14 Quite fine to day [today]. Frank took 2 loads of household goods down to the Evans place hauled one wagon behind the other with Bonny and Lady. I filled the cistern and done quite a bit of irrigating. Johny went to school.

Thurs Nov 15 Quite breezy until about 2 O clock then it turned cold and blowed awfully until now but it dont act quite as bad as it did. Franks folks moved to the Evans place to day [today]. I finished shucking the sweet corn and made a start at the other corn and still keep the water a going on the wheat stubble.

2 inches of snow last night Nov 16

Fri Nov 16 Pretty cold all day and we had about a couple of inches of snow on the ground this morning and it has not thawed off any to day [today] although it has been clear all day. I chored around in the forenoon and this afternoon I shoveled part of the saw dust out of the ice house into the little shed and found the hand axe that was covered up last winter. Johny went to school.

Sat Nov 17 Rather cold to day [today] but it thawed a little. John and I went to town took over Mr Larimers alfalfa seed 8 sacks weighing 150 lbs each but the price has fell to nothing pretty near only 4 1/2 dols [$4.50] pr [per] hund [hundred] unless it is very nice. We took over [300?] and a little over of wheat took it to the farmers mill and sold it to them there and we brought home 100 lbs of flour and a sack of bran and a sack of shorts. Frank took away Lews cow so we only have 3 to milk from this time on.

Sun Nov 18 A lavely [lovely] day still clear and quite warm in the middle of the day. We cleaned out the swarm of bees that got into the manger of the cow stable last summer. They didnt have much honey and I gues [guess] that they have been sorry lots of times that they didnt stay in the hive. Reas's folks were here and we had a delightful visit and John has gone over to town with Meda and Arthur.
