Sun Jan 6 Pretty fair day but rather cold.
Lew went over to Charleys after May came home
by John Camerons got home about 9.30 [9:30] PM.
The ballance [balance] of us kept Sunday at home only
Lill Dixon was here and her and Meda and John
and Dan went up to the lake and had a skate
and that left Mother and me alone.

Mon Jan 7 Clear and Cold but rather
pleasant. The boys got a couple of loads of ice which
was a very good start for the firs [first] day. Johny went
to School.I tinkered around a little but not
to amount to much.

Tues Jan 8 Clear Still and quite
Nice. The boys got in a couple of loads of ice again to day [today].
I sat near the fire most of the time but I had
allmost [almost] a notion to go out to the shop and work awhile
anyhow. Johny went to school. A young man came
here last night and staid [stayed] over night [overnight]. He was on his
way to Longmont and his name is Demmon.

Wed Jan 9 Clear again with a west
Wind but it didnt thaw much. Lew and Dan
finished putting up ice to day [today] and then went to
town have not got back yet. Johny went
to school. I worked in the shop awhile got
Mrs Dixons cupboard door together.

Thurs Jan 10 Clear again and real nice.
The boys hauled 2 loads of hay and put into the barn
and then butchered one of the pigs. Johny went to
school. I worked in the shop quite a bit fixed
some things for Lews folks. Then put Mrs Dixons
cupboard together for keeps then fixed the scales
where they were broke etc.
