Description
William McDavid Connor was a law enforcement officer in Mississippi during the late nineteenth century. Born on December 30, 1822, in Hazel Green, Alabama, Connor moved to Mississippi and was elected sheriff of Noxubee County around the start of the Civil War. He served in that role through the war, keeping the peace and acting as tax collector in the county. Connor also served as sheriff in the 1870s. Connor died on May 7, 1901. He was married to a cousin, Sarah Jane Connor, and had at least nine children. He is buried in Connor Cemetery in Macon, Mississippi.
