Mississippi--Clay County



Located in northeast Mississippi, Clay County was established on May 12, 1871 from Chickasaw, Lowndes, Monroe, and Oktibbeha counties under the name Colfax County. It was renamed Clay County on April 10, 1876. (Atlas of Historical County Boundaries)
