Description
The 33rd Regiment, Illinois Infantry (Union), also known as the Teacher's Regiment, was organized on September 3, 1861 at Camp Butler, Illinois under the command of Col. Charles Edward Hovey and served in the Western Theater. It was later commanded by Cols. Charles E. Lippincott and Isaac H. Elliott. It was mustered out of service on November 24, 1865.
