Company CCompany C of the 9th Regiment, Indiana Cavalry was organized on December 7, 1863 in Wayne and Fayette counties, Indiana under the command of Capt. Benjamin F. Brown and served in the Western Theater in the Department of the Cumberland, and later, the Department of Mississippi. It was mustered out of service on August 28, 1865.
