Located in New Orleans, Louisiana the New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern Railroad Company was a railroad company commissioned by the state of Illinois in 1851. Lines completed preceding the Civil War were heavily damaged during the conflict. Revived by the Mississippi Central Railroad after the war, the company joined with the Illinois Central in 1878.
