Grenada Miss May 27th/64 Gov. Charles Clark

Dear Sir

There is a company stationed at Bankston Chocktaw Co Miss under the Command of Capt. Z. P. Stutts who is of the opinion that his company is one of ten reserved by you for special duty in the state. If such is not the case and he has to be connected with a regiment he desires the privilige of Joining my Battalion which is organized for Col Benj. D. Lay Regt. whose auth-ority originats from the secy of war—You will please enclose a certificate to him in your com-munication ^to me^ informing him that he will be attached [?] if such is the case
