To his excellency Gov. Pettus of Mississippi

Dear Sir

The undersigned, in behalf of the ladies, and gentlemen, amateurs, (visitors of this place,) beg your acceptance of the enclosed sum of ($75.) the proceeds of an amateur Concert, given by them, on the evening of the 20 inst,, to be appropriated as you may deem fit, for the benefit of the noble volunteers of your state, now in the field, or ready for active services—

We beg of you, with feelings of the highest Consideration to accept this our mite.—
