After my complements & ardent wishes for your good health and abundant usefulness—Allow me to request, an inspection of the enclosed paper—His Battle was regularly mustered into Confedr Service, on 5th of August. As the Muster Rolls will Show, as Law informed—These Muster Rolls were delivered to me, on Major Deavenports death by order of Major Genl Lee—Col Reynolds wrote the agreem-ent between Major Davenport & myself by which we coopperated, under very authority to raise a Regt

This paper Ihave not by me at this time but if necessary can procure it—[?] to have sent these papers to you before but did not deem it necessary—perhaps it is not so now,

"Thereby Certify that I delivered the Muster rolls alluded to above towit Capt Brown. Capt Perdues & Capt Carters these three Cos Compose the Battn. and their Muster rolls were received by the War Dep-artment at Richmond & filed as parts of and belonging to Col Harrisons Regiment

Witness my hand this 20th,, Decr: 1863.

Ihave the honor to enclose the written Certificates—orders & letters Copied by me from the originals in my possession—

You will percure from them the Status of the Davenport Battn [?] not Copy my authority to organize & muster the ten Cos. as his Excellency has seen it, and the order organizing my Regt superc-edes the necessity of it—

Respectfully request that these Cos be not interferred with by his Excellen-cy, Gov. Clark, as I am confident he will not do, when in possession of the facts.
