His Excellency Governor Chas Clark Columbus Miss.

Dear Sir,

Some few days ago we mailed you a letter received a short time since from Mr John R. Macaulay, late of New Orleans but now in Havana, which we hope you received safely. We now hand you another which we will forward by the Pioneir Export Co. as Mr Macaulay informed us it was of some importance & that he wished it to reach you safely. Please acknowledge receipt

We have been unable to forward you the letter by the Express Co. as they are prohibited from taking any Package in which there is any writing. We will retain it until, we hear from you or until we can find some one going to your city, whom we can trust
