II. Its origin.

Conversion of sinners. 1 Tim. 1:13,14.

Spread of the gospel. ― "All men," who are willing to come to the light. Who will open their eyes may see. John 3:19. Titus 2: 2,3,4,6,9

Remark 1 What a blessing the gospel is to mankind! ― Gos. of salv― ---- ---- ----- ----- 2. What wisdom to close in with its offers. --------------- 3. What encouragement to the anxious soul. ― ---------------- 4. What guilt to reject it. ----------------- 5. O, while this grace is hearing this salvation along, let us view it, let us lay hold of it. ―

Titus 2:12.

The religion of the gospel is a holy religion ― Ps. 19:8,9. ----------------------- That men may practice the holiness of the gospel, instruction is given. ―

In the instruction of the gospel of the grace of God, we have, 1 Some things we must not do. ― We must not yield to the solicitations of ungodliness, and lusts. ― -------------------- Ung. & W. [Lsts], sum up all kinds of wickedness ― ---------------------- ---- Through the templations of satan & our own corruption, there will be solicitations to gratify Ung. & W. [Lsts].

The rich, or the forehanded in the things of this world. Luke 12:19[/]. 16:19. Matt. 19:22. Ps.73: 3,7-12 ----------------------- Poverty has its temptations. Prov. 30:9. The worldlings, temptˉ to extortion, to overreaching, illicit dealling, & unrighteous trade. 1 Tim. 6:9,10. ---- ----------------- The Carnal mind, whether in young or old, rich or poor, Masters or servants, will be inclined to deny the power of Godliness. ― 2 Tim. 3:5. ------------------------ In whatever way ungodleness and wordly lusts may appear, we must not yield to their solicitations, saith the grace of God. 2 Tim. 2:22. Eph. 4:22. 5:3-6. Col. 3: 5,6. 1 Tim. 6:11. ------------- --------------- II Something we must attend to. Live soberly xc. To all personal, social, & religious duties. ―

Sober. Considerate ― Humble ― Temperate -― Chaste ―

Righleously. Attend to the golden rule. Poor? put yourself in place of the rich. Rich? ― Buyer? ― Seller? Borrow? Pay. ― Ruler?

RECTO:

Subject? Do you contract. ― Master? ― Servant? ― Parent? ― Child? ―

Let the duties of every station be studied, & perfmed. ------ ------------- Godly. Godlike. Religiously. ― As the gospel of the grace \) finds us sinners, it teaches the duty of immediate, love to God ― Repentance. ― Faith. ― Prayer. ― ordinances, Converse with God. ― Holiness ― -------------- In this prensent world. There is a world to come Heb. 2:5. But Eccl. 9:10. ----- ----- ------ -- If we would have the benefit, we must in this world [xc.] ------------- Remark We see, that we do not make void the law by the preaching of faith. --------------- We see, that while we give loose to ungodliness, & wrdly lusts, we can have neither part, nor lot in the blessings of the gospel. ------------- We see, how to secure the glories of the upper world, it is by a proper improvement of the present.―
